How to Measure Cabinet Pulls Before You Replace Them
By Jinnah Hardware

Before replacing a cabinet pull, measure the existing screw holes and check how the new handle will fit. Choosing by appearance or overall length alone may leave the holes misaligned.
For a two-screw pull, measure from the centre of one mounting hole to the centre of the other. This centre-to-centre (C-C) spacing is not the handle’s overall length; the ends may extend beyond the screw holes. If the pull is still fitted, measure between the screw centres on its back, or remove it and measure the hole centres on the drawer front. Record the exact distance in millimetres. For a single-screw knob, check its screw position and whether the base will cover the existing mark or hole.
For example, if the two holes are 96 mm apart, look for a pull specified as 96 mm centre-to-centre. A handle that is 96 mm long overall may have different hole spacing.
Before fitting, check that both screws line up with the existing holes and that the fixing method and screws suit your cabinet or drawer thickness. If the spacing differs, you may need new holes or a way to repair or cover the old ones. Before drilling, follow the maker’s instructions or use a suitable template, mark the positions, and hold the pull against the cabinet to confirm the fit.
Check the new pull’s overall length, shape and projection too. Open the door or drawer to make sure it clears nearby fronts, walls and handles, and leaves enough room for your hand. If you’re replacing several pulls, test one first.
